Broken Promises is a multimedia website created by students at the University of Regina School of Journalism and First Nations University of Canada. It presents a year-long investigation undertaken by the students as part of a national collaboration coordinated by the Institute for Investigative Journalism and its media partners, under the series title Clean Water, Broken Promises. In addition to this work, students participated in preparing background for over 30 articles and broadcasts by partner media organizations APTN News, Global News, Canada’s National Observer, Le Devoir and the StarPhoenix. The work represents a new frontier in broad investigative collaborations that coordinate the efforts of journalists, university researchers and students, with student opportunities for internships, fellowships and hands-on learning from some of Canada’s top investigative journalists.
